A major winter storm that stretched from New Mexico to New England brought heavy snowfall to Centre County throughout the day on Sunday.

Snow started in the area at about 1:30 a.m. and by Sunday afternoon 8 to 12 inches had accumulated around the county, with the storm continuing into Sunday night. A winter storm warning was in effect until 1 p.m. Monday.

The Centre Area Transportation Authority suspended operations on Sunday and Penn State and county school districts announced they would be closed on Monday, among myriad other impacts that led to mostly quiet streets.

Here’s a look at some of the snowy sights in State College and Bellefonte on Sunday.
